Chairwoman of BNYC “RADA” Margo Vorykhava took part in the annual General Assembly of the German National Youth Council in Berlin, where she presented a call to Belarusian youth in the context of a full-scale attack on Ukraine.
The German National Youth Council DBJR represents the interests of children and young people in society as well as in government and parliamentary affairs. DBJR serves on committees and working groups and issues legal statements and reports for young people. It promotes and issues a summons to the youth in the political debate.
During the event, topical topics for the national youth councils of Moldova, Lithuania, Ukraine and North Macedonia were also discussed, how the changing situation affected them and our work.
As part of her participation in the event, Margo raised topics relevant to Belarusian youth and Belarusian youth organizations:
- a narrowing space
- challenges of the student community
- problems of adaptation of young people in emigration
- legal framework for the existence of the civil sector in Belarus
- growing trend of discrimination of Belarusians
At the panel discussion, we talked about how important it is to distinguish and divide the Belarusian regime and Belarusian society, what consequences hate speech and discriminatory practices in state institutions lead to.
