RADA at the Danish Parliament

How the voice of Belarusian youth was heard at the Youth Hearings at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs — shared by Yulia Ralko, the International Secretary of RADA.

What was it about?

As part of developing a new foreign and development policy strategy, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Danish Youth Council (DUF), invited youth from 10 countries to join a dialogue. The young participants shared ideas and recommendations on how to make Denmark’s international policy more just, sustainable, and future-oriented.

First — online

In February, a large online meeting took place: around 100 young civil society representatives from non-EU countries shared their challenges, proposed solutions, and expressed their expectations from Denmark. The outcome was a document with concrete recommendations.

Then the participants were invited to Copenhagen — to the Parliament building — to present their proposals directly to the Members of Parliament. Representatives from various political parties took part in the dialogue.

Yulia Ralko, the International Secretary of RADA, spoke about the situation in Belarus: the ongoing pressure on civil society, the young political prisoners, and the vital importance of Danish support in the areas of peace and security.

She emphasized the need to strengthen programs between Denmark and Belarus — in the areas of youth mobility, academic exchanges, democratic dialogue, and internship opportunities.

Why it matters: youth voices in global politics

The foreign policy strategy determines how Danish funds will be used at the international level. Both DUF and their partners around the world work daily to ensure that young people are engaged and have influence in decision-making on these issues.

Belarusian national youth council RADA and its partners work every day to ensure that these voices are heard.
